Nonprofit Governance; who’s in charge, who’s responsible and who’s watching?
Nonprofits are different from businesses in how they are set up and how they are governed. Nonprofit Board members guide the organization collaboratively, setting the course and ensuring the integrity and sustainability of the organization. The Board hires Management to captain the ship. Each has different responsibilities. Both must answer to many outsiders including current and potential donors and grantors, the IRS, the Attorney General and the general public.
In this session, participants will learn and explore how nonprofits are organized, structured and managed, including the responsibilities of Board members, the use of professional advisors and the role of strategic planning as the organization’s charted course.
